Jacques Bailhé – In The Alley (Track Review)
Jacques Bailhé is a multi-instrumentalist who plays the sitar, guitar, drums, piano, keyboards, and other intriguing instruments. His musical influences include early works by Weather Report and Miles Davis, Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band, ethnic musicians like Ravi Shankar and Zap Mama, and others like Jimi Hendrix. The current track is a composition that draws inspiration from a multi-genre perspective, although the basic music platform is Jazzy. The artist’s jazz umbrella is “painted” in the vibrant colours of New Age, Fusion, Avant-Garde, and Rock. A complex but meaningful main Jazz drumbeat leads the song while it unfolds the different pieces of the musical puzzle and travel the listener to relaxing soundscapes and experimental attempts to mix a variety of music genres. Does he successfully complete the puzzle? From my perspective, yes, he does! The reason is that the transition between the music genres is smooth and the final audio result sounds easy to understand due to the professional production that enables the equal presence of each musical instrument in the audio mix.
