Crux – Save Me (Track review)

The sound in the Crux’s new single is atmospheric and quite close to what we call progressive music, but without the complex musical structures that prevent non-musicians from enjoying it. The band’s new single’s “progress” could be explored from the perspectives of “evolution” and “exploration.” This is an ever-evolving song that explores itself by changing moods and musical structures. This fact leads to the creation of a rollercoaster of emotions for the listener who follows and tunes into the inner trip of self-exploration that the band finally delivers. Regarding musical influences, I would suggest you check out the bands IQ, Pink Floyd (the A Momentary Lapse of Reason era), Planet P Project, and maybe the OK Computer period of Radiohead. The Prog sound of the band is obviously post-1980s and is based on the atmospheric parts and the poetic lyrics; it’s worth checking out if you are looking for bands with unique characteristics in their sound.
