Pagan Lust – Societal Plague
Pagan Lust’s music takes a variety of musical paths, including Blues, Folk Rock, Goth, and old school Heavy metal from the 1980s. The 1970s-driven electric guitar riffs and the impressive baritone voice of the singer, who reminds me of Mark Shelton (Manila Road) and Eric Clayton (Savior Machine), are the common elements that bridge these sounds on Pagan Lust’s album. The orchestration adopts the typical bass-guitar-drums direction, and the production sounds OK to me, although I feel that the vocals sometimes are very distinct in the audio mix and overshadow the musical instruments. However, in our case, since voice and the poetic lyrics play the main roles, I can admit that this is not a major disadvantage for the final result. If you like the old school sound and you want to travel somewhere in the past along with your sword and fantasy books, then you should definitely check out this band.
