Pure Rock with a Punk attitude on Will Sims’ album “See Right Through Me (Live)”
On Will Sims’ most recent album, “See Right Through Me (Live),” an all-star cast of Baltimore-based musicians play a number of songs from his discography. The Recher, which had been closed for some years while being transformed into a lounge for electronic music, was where the show was recorded. Early in Will’s career, a lot of great performances took place at The Recher, including his opening slots for the 12 Stones, The Dreaming, Charm City Devils, and Smile Empty Soul. The concert was scheduled to mark the debut of his most recent studio album, “Myeras.”
Sims’ music uses a variety of musical genres as a palette to paint diverse forms of imagery into his music, echoing the work of the 90s alternative rock movement. His songs incorporate the vocal melodies of Rob Thomas, whose vocal styles complement and are complemented by the music. His voice ranges widely, enabling him to sing everything from upbeat rock tunes in the vein of the Foo Fighters to tender ballads in the vein of the Goo Goo Dolls that tap into deeply buried emotions. Like an anthem by U2 or Oasis, his songs are also on a large scale and intended to fill venues.
Sims’ music has been featured on radio stations in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina as well as online radio stations and podcasts. He has played shows in Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, and the Carolinas, and opened for several national acts including: Puddle of Mudd, Saving Abel, Like a Storm, Adema, Trapt, 12 Stones, Smile Empty Soul, Otep, Taproot, Hurt, Kip Winger, Faster Pussycat, and The Dreaming.
