Roxercat – Baby I Tried (Track review)
This is a beautiful rock ballad with its roots in the glorious era of the 1990s, when female fronted rock bands were conquering the world of music. Musical influences range from Mazzy Star to the early days of the Heart, representing a wide range of styles. The audio production is nice, and the vocals, in combination with the Country-inspired electric guitar style, create a great atmosphere. If I could “taste” the track, then this would be so sweet due to the emotional weight of the lyrics and the way that the artist performs the track. Although the lyrical content “carries us through the emotional rollercoaster at the end of a relationship that doesn’t serve us” (as the artist mentions), the singer, with her attitude, takes us away from the dark thoughts by creating a “wall” of pure romance and nostalgia.
