Sarah Van Sciver – Puzzle Pieces (Track review)

“Puzzle Pieces” is a musical puzzle with influences from soul, rock, and jazz, but all of them are delivered to the listener in terms of audio production and orchestration under the Pop umbrella. Sarah seems to take her art seriously and is trying to explore Pop music in a complex way by adding interesting back vocal lines and other musical elements that make the final result a bit “Progressive” for the casual Pop music listener. She is definitely a professional musician and probably a good live performer, if I judge from her voice skills. From the standpoint of the musician, I would prefer a different direction for the audio mix, most likely by adding some effects or panning at the vocals to make the track radio friendly if commercial success is the artist’s goal. However, as a listener, I am satisfied with what I am currently listening to since it sounds original and presents a personal style of Sarah.
