Oldest Sea – The Whales (Track)
The neoclassical/folk vibe of the track is obvious from minute 1 which prepares me for a potential successful listen of the track. The introductive part of the electric guitar reminds me a lot of the roster of the label Southern Lord, so I guess that this additional fact also offers you extra points since I am really familiar with this scene. On the vocal level, I can hear an interesting melodramatic sadness in the vein of Marianne Faithfull and Diamanda Galas, that mood keeps me focused on the track and makes me want to explore deeper the universe of the band. As the music becomes harder and the guitar outbreaks deliver a 1990s Doom Metal masterpiece, I wonder what else is waiting for me out there, on the audio journey that I am currently on… This track is amazing, guys, keep up the good work! My personal advice to improve (or explore deeper the mood of your music) is to offer an alternate orchestration of the track with synth lines or neoclassical musical instruments such as piano and violin.
