Mickey Gilley’s rise to superstar status as an American country music icon was more a hard climb to the top rather than the meteoric rise of some of his contemporaries. The cousin of the great Jerry Lee Lewis, Gilley may have had music royalty in his blood, but his success was not by any means handed to him on a silver platter. In fact, his early years were spent toiling away as a songwriter and session singer, crafting a sound that was closer to the raucous rock and rollicking roll of his cousin than it was to the country twang Gilley would later develop. 

These early years come into focus on a brand-new comprehensive compilation of singles dating from the ‘60s. The Singles Collection A’s & B’s 1960-1969 contains all vintage recordings from Gilley’s most productive and adventurous phase of his career as he established himself as both a singer and songwriter to be reckoned with. It includes Gilley’s first hit song, “Now I Can Live Again,” from his 1967 debut album as well as such memorable tracks as “Turn Around (I’ll Be Following You),” “Fraulein,” and more!
