Two Legends Of British Electronic Music Reteam For Hard Hitting New EP!

2 min read

PETER HOPE & DAVID HARROW first started working together all the way back in 1985! Hope was a prominent figure in the alternative/industrial Sheffield scene bringing his vocal gymnastics to ex-Clock DVA band The Box, releasing with Cabaret Voltaire’s Richard H. Kirk and working with numerous icons of the Sheffield scene including DJ Parrot (All Seeing Eye, Crooked Man, Sweet Exorcist), Mark Brydon & Roisin Murphy (Moloko) plus many others. He first teamed Harrow for the Sufferhead EP, released in 1985, and although it was very well received it took another 28 years before the pair teamed up again for their follow up! In the meantime, Harrow had plied his trade with great success across the globe, kicking off with synth-soaked new wave and Neue Deutsche Welle, defining a techno blueprint with poet Anne Clark, onto the San Francisco disco scene, Berlin Techno, deep dub and experimental electronics as part of On-U Sound and PTV. He worked the dirty rave haunts of London with Andrew Weatherall, did huge international tours as James Hardway and a massive pop smash with Billie Ray Martin.

Since releasing their Blue Electric album through Klanggalerie in 2006 Hope & Harrow have continued working together, releasing through Dutch Techno label New York Haunted, Greek Electronic label KinetiK as well as Hope’s own Wrong Revolution and Harrow’s Workhousedigital. With over 200 releases between them there’s no doubt about their continuing ability to reflect and even precede musical trends with an enviable knack of being able to turn out fresh and contemporary gems that draw from their vast and eclectic backgrounds and experience.
The Crowbar EP is their latest work, defying time yet again and bringing together a full variety of expertly delivered styles and moods with a rallying cry against complacency; “GET UP OUTA YOUR CHAIR!”.
