Industrial Legends LEÆTHER STRIP Release Industrial Strength Cover Of DURAN DURAN For Their Newest Single!

Seven years ago, Leæther Strip frontman, founder and mastermind Claus Larsen began an ambitious project, paying homage to the varied musical influences that have inspired him over the years, including numerous artists that exist far outside the world of industrial electronic music, and filtering their songs through the dark and foreboding lens that is Leæther Strip. The result has been an incredible series of studio albums – Æppreciation (2014), Æppreciation II (2017), Æppreciation III – Deutsche Wælle (2018), Æppreciation IV (2020) – that have made fans on both sides of the pond stand up and take notice. Each new volume of the series seemed to offer a surprising twist, whether it be the danceable cover of PJ Harvey’s “Down By The Water” that kicked off the first volume, or the brilliant cover of Dead Or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)” from volume two, or the fantastically brutal cover of Björk’s “Army Of Me” from volume four.

Now comes Æppreciation V, the newest installment in the series, which is being released October 22. And the first single is being made available to stream on all platforms today, a thoroughly captivating remake of a relatively obscure song by British new wave hitmakers Duran Duran. “The Chauffeur,” was originally released by Duran Duran as the final track on their breakthrough sophomore album Rio, where it languished in the shadows of the album’s massive singles including “Hungry Like The Wolf,” “Save A Prayer” and the title track. But the dark vibe of the track got picked up on by gothic-industrial DJs who would frequently spin the track alongside songs by Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and, of course, Leæther Strip. Larsen steps in to further twist the songs lilting keyboards into an eerie, ominous, industrial strength groove.

And that’s not the only stellar track awaiting fans, Æppreciation V also includes killer versions of The Clash’s “London Calling,” Wall Of Voodoo’s “Mexican Radio” and Judas Priest’s “Hell Bent For Leather.” Æppreciation V will be available on all formats including digital, CD in a sleek digipak, and glorious GREEN vinyl housed in a gatefold jacket.
