Blockchain technology is helping out for the release of ‘Burn’ LP by LISA GERRARD & JULES MAXWELL

Atlantic Curve are thrilled to announce that ‘Burn’, the new album by Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell, produced by James Chapman (MAPS), will be among the first commercial music works to also be available as an Non-Fungible Token (NFT) on the eco-friendly platform Hic Et Nunc.

The album, which had its traditional digital and physical release on May 7 via Atlantic Curve, a London-based label that is part of the Schubert Music Europe, will be made available as a single edition multi-media NFT as of 4pm UK time on Tuesday June 1.

Hic Et Nunc is a relatively new platform specialising in “clean NFTs”, so-called because creating works on this platform (minting) creates a fraction of the carbon footprint generated by minting NFTs on other platforms. The crypto-currency used on the Hic et Nunc platform is Tezos (XTZ), and a reserve price of 1000TXZ has been set for this highly collectible one-off.

The ‘Burn’ NFT was developed by London-based developer 1×1, and will contain exclusive bonus materia,l in addition to the album’s original music and artwork. 1×1 is the alias of Stevie J Jones, a musician and developer based in London, who specialises in ground breaking premium music NFTs.

NFTs may be a relatively new addition to the collectibles world, but the prospect of owning this particular item by one of the most respected popular singers of the last 50 years is undoubtedly a mouth-watering prospect for those curious about the new digital art and music market.

Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell are best known for their work as members of legendary band Dead Can Dance. Gerrard is also celebrated for her contribution to the soundtracks of huge Hollywood blockbusters like ‘Gladiator’ and independent gems like ‘Whale Rider’.

Jules Maxwell is an Irish composer, whose work has featured in London at the Royal Opera House, the National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

‘Burn’ began its journey more than seven years ago, when Gerrard first met and began working with Maxwell. Things really took root when Gerrard and Maxwell began writing songs for the ‘BooCheeMish’ album by The Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices (Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares). They were later introduced to Chapman and asked him to produce this album, which represents a stunning departure for all three of them.

“‘Burn’ was never planned to be an album. Like many joyous things in life, it grew slowly and unexpectedly. One song at a time. Lisa Gerrard is in my opinion one of the most important singers of her generation and it continues to be an enormous privilege for me to be working with her. What we have created still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up from time to time,” says Jules Maxwell.

The ‘Burn’ album is now available on vinyl, CD and digitally, including via Apple Music and Spotif, and can be ordered at https://orcd.co/lisajulesburn. The NFT pre-order can be found at https://hic.link/burn
