DARWIN – DarWin 3: Unplugged (Origin Of Species)

Here is the new album of the Prog band DarWin, including unplugged and classically orchestrated versions of older songs recorded by the band. From the beginning, the album has a cinematic atmosphere since it includes a participation from The Chamber Orchestra of London. Moreover, the frozen cover artwork and the classical instruments deliver a “Christmas” vibe for the listener, inspired by dreamy soundtrack music. Only, the last song “Another Year (acapella)” is close to the original music style of the band if you are familiar with their back catalogue. I think that this is a new era for the band and they prove to be capable of taking a turn and following a new musical direction. The cinematic versions are brilliant and totally professional, however the question is which will be the next musical move from the band’s side. Prog rock or musical evolution?
