Innovative, influential and always outrageous, The Meteors are frequently called the greatest, and perhaps the only true psychobilly band the world has ever known. Like their slightly punkier American counterpart, The Cramps, The Meteors blended the energy and attitude of punk rock with the style and tunefulness of rockabilly to create the distinctive sound known as psychobilly. London-born singer/guitarist P. Paul Fenech formed the group in 1980 and helmed them through the next 4 decades releasing more than 20 studio albums plus numerous live albums and countless compilations not to mention a slew of world tours playing to the ever faithful “WWWC” as Meteor fans refer to themselves. And Fenech is a long way from hanging things up, in fact, this year he has a massive double album planned that is sure to knock the bobby socks off of psychobilly fans young and old.
The first part, Skull N Bones, set to be released on March 26, is a mixture of thrilling instrumentals and memorable original cuts as well as a killer cover of The Adverts’ “Gary Gilmore’s Eyes!” The album will be available on digital as well as a limited-edition ghoulie green vinyl version!
