The re-issue of your solo album “One” is a fact, was it a personal decision?
The reissue of “ONE” was actually proposed to me by Georg Seigl of AOR Heaven. He felt it was a good time to bring attention back on to the album.
The album was released in 1993, does your material reflect ideas and thoughts that you still have on mind in 2019?
It does, yes, even after all these years. If a song is true when it’s written it will probably always be true.
Did you work to improve any audio elements in this new version?
No, just added a couple of bonus tracks and a remastering. The album sounded pretty good right from the start.
Moreover, a new super solo album is out called Unbroken. Would you like to describe us its formation?
Again it was Georg Seigl who came to me with the idea of making a collaboration with his friend Robert Boebel. We live far apart so our musical work came about through Robby sending me his musical ideas by e-mail. I then wrote lyrics and melodies that fit his music tracks and recorded the vocals here. I also took the drummers into a great studio in Toronto to record the drum tracks.
You have a musical collaboration with famous musicians such as Robert Boebel for this album. How did this collaboration affect the final audio result?
Robert was a great writing partner for me, with a fresh exciting sound in his music ideas. He is also a wizard on guitar. I’m a good guitarist but there’s no way I could ever play like Robby! He worked very hard on the mixing and sound shaping to finish the album to the fine sound that it has.
Who did the mixing and the mastering of the album, are you satisfied of the process?
As I say, Robert did all the mixing. I don’t know who did the mastering but I’m very pleased.
Would you like to discuss the lyrics of the album?
In general, the lyrics on this album are a reflection of where I am today as a man and as an artist. Some are fun, some are serious, some are romantic, and some are strong statements of my beliefs.
When and where are you going to tour for this album?
A few European dates are on the horizon. It’s early to be planning any tour. Album sales are needed before people will book the show.
Do you also have any plans to release music with the Coney Hatch?
No current plans, although there is a possible live album in the works. We have recorded a show, it’s just a matter of whether we get organised to release it.
How do you adjust yourself to the current status of the music industry?
Same as always, keep making the best music I can and keep performing everywhere that I can. The way it is now Is that nobody can really make it big anymore, everyone has an equal shot to make it small!
