Alt-Rock Icons SPONGE Party With THE WORD ALIVE Frontman TELLE SMITH On A Brand New, Booze-Fueled Single!

Summer may be officially over but Alt-rockers Sponge know how to keep the party going! The band best known for hits like “Plowed” and “Molly (16 Candles Down The Drain)” has just released a brand new song that is sure to get the whole bar singing along in no time. An ode to Sponge founder and vocalist Vin Dombroski’s favorite ride-sharing platform and inebriating beverage, “Uber & A Fifth” is a monster hook-laden, debaucherous slice of after-party mayhem that is both instantly memorable and infinitely repeatable. And like any good late night excursion, the more, the merrier – in this case, “the more” is long-time frontman for metalcore band The Word Alive, Telle Smith, who lends his powerful and distinctive voice to the song’s rousing bridge. This is the very first time these two artists have collaborated together and the result is electrifying.

Dombroski shares his thoughts on the song, saying “‘Uber and A Fifth’ is a bit of a departure for Sponge (we wrote the song to perform at our yearly CRAZY ASS DETROIT Pub Crawls). It soon became apparent it was much more than just a Pub Crawl song. With Cleopatra Records’ immediate enthusiastic support of the song as well as a vocal contribution from the legendary Telle, a true singer’s singer, on the track WE’VE REACHED A WHOLE NEW LEVEL! The Sponge audience as well as new listeners are sure to be singing along!”

And collaborator Telle Smith offers these remarks, “It’s not often you get the opportunity to join forces with a band you loved before your own career took off, but that’s exactly what happened with this track. I loved seeing a new side of the band and when they asked me to be a part of the song I knew it would be a fun undertaking, as well as hopefully opening up our fanbases to discovering new music via our collaboration.
