Industrial Icons LEÆTHER STRIP Release Volume 2 Of Their Hugely Popular Covers Project ÆPPRECIATION!

Gothic-industrial legends Leæther Strip continue their homage to the bands and songwriters who have inspired them over the years with Æppreciation II, a brand new set of cover versions set to be released on January 19 via Cleopatra Records.

Back in 2014, Leæther Strip founder Claus Larsen released volume 1 of this series, which proved to be fan favorite offering not only a glimpse into the creative influences that have propelled Larsen to the forefront of modern industrial music, but also giving him a showcase for his immense skill as an interpreter and (re)arranger. This volume finds Larsen taking on proto-industrial classics such as Fad Gadget’s “Lady Shave” and Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” (itself a cover of the ‘60s soul singer Gloria Jones) as well as some more surprising material such as Sex Pistol’s “Holidays In The Sun” and Marianne Faithfull’s “Broken English.”

Larsen explains the origin of his covers project, saying “One of my favorite things to do when I’m not composing new songs for one of my projects is to cover songs I love from artists that I truly admire and who have inspired me over the years. It’s a privilege and a challenge to dive into these, for me, iconic songs that shaped my way of composing, and I learn so much doing it. Covering songs is not a crime if it’s done with respect. It can even give them new life and present them to a new audience. It’s a pleasure for me to present these new covers and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed recording them.”

Æppreciation II will be available on both CD and digitally starting January 19.
