Steve Mann discusses about Greece and Eloy

2 min read

There are times where we wonder in Greece why Eloy didn’t visit our country for a concert although the interest in this band is really intense, especially from local die hard fans of classic rock music. While interviewing Steve Mann (Eloy, Lionheart) for my new book on melodic rock music, I decided to detect the true facts behind this enigma. I asked Steve if there was any interest in bringing Eloy for a concert in Greece.

He said to me:Yes I think there was interest from Greek promoters, and originally the idea was to tour a lot more with Eloy. Unfortunately Frank Bornemann was knocked off his bike around this time and suffered some quite serious injuries, which affected his ability to go back out on the road. Thankfully he has since fully recovered, but I think the window of opportunity to tour Greece and other countries had been missed by that point.”

Although Steve was not a founding member of the band, at least we have a clue about a fact tha prevented Eloy from visiting Greece during the Steve Mann’s era. My other personal question is what is Steve’s opinion about the new album of Eloy: “The Vision, The Sword and the Pyre part 1.” I have heard mixed opinions about this work and I wonder what is Steve’s opinion about it. Steve stated about Eloy’s new album:The Vision, The Sword and the Pyre part 1″ is a masterpiece from Frank. It’s been his dream for many years to record this album and I am so happy for him that he is fulfilling this dream. He has put absolutely 100% of his time, energy and money into this project and it will be his greatest legacy. When I first heard the album I was absolutely knocked out with it. It is a sensational piece of work and I can’t wait for part two!”
