BMG welcomes C. Macleod to the roster

2 min read

Colin Macleod is an evocative illustrator. The singer-songwriter, who lives on his farm in the idyllic countryside of the Isle of Lewis, some hundreds of miles north of Glasgow, far away from the bright lights and notorious hum of the city, writes music that when listening it’s easy to imagine it’s just you and him within your own conscience, putting the world to rights while working out just where you stand within it. ‘Kicks In’, the first single released from Macleod’s considered record ‘Bloodlines’, is the perfect realisation of such solitary mood- the accompanying video a documental insight into Macleod’s own beloved home as he battles with the notion of leaving.

Where Macleod has blossomed is in his wringing of emotion and the ability to evoke it within rich, home-grown songwriting. His music subtly wonders amongst the hills and abundant greenery, ringing within dug-out burrows, untouched wreathes of grass that grow to an unwavering waist height, the placid waters only disturbed but the oars of Macleod, searching for the answers that he knows will suddenly arrive when least expected. It’s not only music to help you appreciate what is around you, but how to grasp what impact you have had within such grounds, pushing you to understand the footprint you leave if you decide to walk away.

A bountiful impression made, C.Macleod’s Bloodlines LP was produced by Ethan Johns and will be available soon.
