Jamaican Reggae Band NATIVE Release The Complete Studio Sessions Recorded With Legendary Producer LEE “SCRATCH” PERRY!

September 22 will see the release of a true gem of reggae music as Native release the complete recordings they did with iconic producer Lee “Scratch” Perry at the world famous Black Ark studios in 1977. these recordings have been beautifully remastered and packaged in an attractive reverse board mini-LP sleeve for CD and full size jacket for vinyl. With Black Ark Showcase 1977, reggae fans can own a piece of music history!
Wayne Jobson of Native shares his thoughts on the album, “Sometimes we are lucky enough to slip into a vortex. I was blessed to be in the vortex of Kingston Jamaica 1977 when the cracks in the sidewalks were oozing magical melodies and the air was filled with psychic smoke signals. I studied the mystery of reggae while jamming with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, and was tutored by Joe Higgs, the Godfather of Reggae (who taught Bob and Peter to sing). It was Joe who was the arranger and percussionist for my first recording session with the manic genius Lee Scratch Perry in the legendary Black Ark studio.
Scratch had just finished producing Paul McCartney and Robert Palmer in the Ark, so it was filled with sonic magic. Sadly, Scratch burnt down the Ark soon afterwards, so this was one of the last records made there. These songs were the first stuff we recorded as Native and the Scratch sorcery lies within them all. So 40 years later, let’s all send the Highest Respect to Scratch for creating these cerebral rockers.”
