Richard Marx Joins Talent Management Roster

Grammy Award winning pop / rock singer, songwriter, and producer Richard Marx signs a talent management agreement with Primary Wave Entertainment. The multi-platinum artist has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and has written chart-topping, award winning songs for the likes of Keith Urban, Josh Groban, Luther Vandross, Ringo Starr, NSYNC, and most recently wrote Vince Gill’s new single “Take Me Down” off his latest album Down To My Last Habit. This Wednesday December 9th, Marx will be honored with The ASCAP Founders Award for his pioneering contributions to music and will join the prestigious group of artists who have previously won the same award such as Billy Joel (1997), James Taylor (2002), Tom Petty (2014), Carly Simon (2013), and Dr. Dre (2010). Additionally, Richard Marx continues to write for other artists across a wide variety of genres, as he recently spent time in the studio with DJ/EDM artist Kygo and will be in Nashville this coming January writing for a number of country artists. He is also gearing up for a 2016 tour across Europe, and Australia.

With a successful career spanning over 30 years in music, the Chicago-native has released eight critically acclaimed albums with his self-titled, debut album featuring four Top 5 singles, including “Hold on to the Nights,” and “Don’t Mean Nothing,” earning him his first Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. The follow-up, 1989’s Repeat Offender, was even more successful, hitting #1 and going quadruple-platinum with two #1 singles, “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting.” To this day, he is the only male artist in history to have his first seven singles reach the Top 5 on the Billboard charts. Aside from songs that he has written, composed, and recorded for himself, he has also written, produced, and/or collaborated with artists such as NSYNC for their hit “This I Promise You” and Luther Vandross’ “Dance With My Father”, which won several Grammy Awards. His 14th hit and latest chart-topper, “Long Hot Summer,” by Keith Urban, gave Marx the distinction of having a song he wrote or co-wrote hit #1 in all of the past four decades.

“It’s an absolute honor to have the opportunity to work with someone as talented, decorated, well respected and simultaneously humble as Richard Marx,” states Chris Maltese, music manger at Primary Wave. “We are thrilled to have him part of the Primary Wave family and look forward to this next chapter in his illustrious career.”
