Napster Enters The Children’s Market

Napster has launched a children’s streaming mode. Napster KIDS will be available to subscribing Napster users on Android from Thursday, October 1, with an iOS app coming soon. Designed for children under 10 years old, the service is said to feature a curated collection of popular kids’ music, offering an interactive experience. The full Napster catalogue is available for parents to curate, as well as playlists and nursery rhymes, ‘party hits’, lullabies, Cbeebies themes and songs from Disney films.
When enabled, Napster KIDS limits access to only specifically tailored editorial programming and the content that parents add for access. A parental verification step is also included to “make it more difficult for young kids to leave the experience”, according to the release.

Thorsten Schliesche (pictured), EVP and general manager for Napster, said: “As the original streaming music service, we now have customers that have moved into a new chapter of their life and are hungry for a way to share music with their kids.

“With Napster KIDS, we’re excited for parents to share their love of music with their young kids in a fun, safe and controlled environment.”
