Buddy Holly’s Timeless Catalogue To BMG
The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation is pleased to announce that Board Member and Co-Founder Maria Elena Holly has selected BMG as the new home for Buddy Holly’s music and caretaker of his legacy. Maria Elena Holly has dedicated her life to ensuring Buddy’s legacy would be remembered with integrity and love. Maria Elena said, “For almost 60 years, Buddy’s loving fans and I have worked to bring his creativity to successive generations of fans and I have been looking for a steward to lead those efforts into the future, and I am very happy to announce that I have entrusted Buddy’s legacy to BMG.”
The Foundation, its Board and members are delighted that Maria Elena Holly has chosen BMG, a well-respected international music and media company for this role. BMG convinced Maria Elena that they understand the importance of Buddy’s legacy. Maria Elena believes that BMG has the passion and the resources to continue to serve Buddy’s fans, and also to bring Buddy’s incomparable artistry to a wider audience including a new generation of fans. The deal signals the union of one of the most distinguished and influential catalogues in popular music history with one of the most innovative and fastest-growing companies in music, BMG.

The Foundation is also pleased to announce that Laurent Hubert, President Creative & Marketing, BMG for North America, a leader in the music publishing business, has agreed to serve on the Board of The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation. Board Member Peter Bradley, Jr. said “We are delighted that Mr. Hubert has agreed to serve on the Foundation Board and share in its twin missions to promote Buddy’s legacy and support his and Maria Elena’s dream of furthering musical education for young people, regardless of creed, ethnicity or income level.”
Mr. Hubert said “Buddy Holly is truly one of the founding fathers of rock and roll. What is all the more extraordinary is that he completed this tremendous body of work by the time he was twenty-two. Maria Elena and his fans can be assured that BMG and I take our responsibility to preserve and develop the Buddy Holly legacy extremely seriously. I am so pleased that I will be able to assist the Foundation in accomplishing its important goals of promoting Buddy’s legacy and encouraging musical education.”
Stephen Easley, Counsel to the Foundation said “As a part of this deal, BMG will contribute to several of the Foundation’s efforts, including sponsorship of the Foundation’s songwriting retreats, which benefit the next generation of songwriters who look to Buddy Holly for inspiration. BMG will also endow a university scholarship in Buddy’s name.” Maria Elena Holly closed by saying “I am so happy that BMG’s efforts will now allow me to devote more time and energy to my role as a Board Member of The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation.
