Music Analytics Service BuzzAngle Music Tracks Record Store Day Sales Growth

BuzzAngle Music, Border City Media’s comprehensive service that provides deep analytics of music consumption as it relates to the music industry through web and mobile access, has released its second annual set of daily data for Record Store Day sales. BuzzAngle Music’s data shows:

A 628% growth in sales at independent record stores on Record Store Day (Saturday, April 18) in comparison to the previous Saturday (April 11).
A 3.3% growth from Record Store Day 2014.
The White Stripes’ Get Behind Me Satan and Metallica’s cassette demo No Life Til Leather top the BuzzAngle Music Charts of Record Store Day Releases; top 25 titles listed below.
“Our release of Record Store Day data in 2014 was the first of its kind, pinpointing the exact sales for each day and how they changed day-to-day, and this year’s data is similarly specific and fascinating,” said Jim Lidestri, Founder and CEO of Border City Media. “While other services summarize weekly activity with extrapolations and estimates, BuzzAngle Music is the most consistently precise and accurate provider of data, whether it’s measuring Record Store Day numbers, post-Grammys sales bumps, or a variety of measurements for other mediums that we’re planning to roll out in the months ahead.”

With full support from the Independent Music Store Coalitions (CIMS, DRS, AIMS) and the Music Business Association, BuzzAngle Music’s work with Record Store Day (for which it is an official sponsor) has provided greater visibility and advanced tools for physical and digital music retail analysis for independent record stores and their unique mix of inventory and sales, giving a voice to stores and data that have never been counted.

BuzzAngle Music provides a state-of-the-art music analytics service that will revolutionize the way businesses analyze music consumption and related trends. The system incorporates the daily sales, streaming and airplay activity of albums, songs and artists. BuzzAngle Music is currently in a limited beta test and has a planned public release in the summer of 2015.
