AC/DC’s Phil Rudd Out on Bail After Murder-Plot Arrest

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been granted bail at a court appearance in Tauranga, New Zealand, after being arrested Thursday morning local time on charges of attempting to procure the murders of two people. He entered no plea to the charges and will next appear in court on Nov. 27. Rudd was ordered by Judge Louis Bidois to have no contact with the man he allegedly tried to hire to carry out the two hits. The judge suppressed the names of the alleged intended victims and the alleged hitman, according to the New Zealand Herald.

The Australian-born drummer has lived in New Zealand since splitting with AC/DC in 1983. He rejoined the band in 1994 but was left out of recent publicity shots promoting AC/DC’s new album, Rock or Bust, which will be released on Dec 2 in the U.S.

Rudd released a solo album called Head Job in September.

Rock or Bust will be AC/DC’s first album without founding member Malcolm Young, who, it was recently revealed, is suffering from dementia.
