Famous guests in the new album of Bryan Ferry

Bryan Ferry has enlisted a string of musicians to form his backing band for a new studio album, entitled Avonmore, out on 17 November. The likes of Johnny Marr, Nile Rodgers and Marcus Miller feature throughout the release, alongside an additional lineup that includes Flea, Ronnie Spector, Mark Knopfler and Maceo Parker.

The Roxy Music frontman’s new release follows his 2010 solo venture, Olympia, The Jazz Age in 2012 – created by a Bryan Ferry-assembled orchestra that reimagined Roxy classics in a 1920s style – and, most recently, the radical reworking of Love is the Drug, which featured on Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby soundtrack.

Avonmore includes eight new songs and two covers – a “beautiful and lush take” on Stephen Sondheim’s Send in the Clowns and the Robert Palmer song Johnny and Mary, a collaboration with Norwegian DJ Todd Terje that has been “transformed into a melancholic hymn to love and loss”.

Produced by Ferry and Rhett Davies, the album was mixed by Craig Silvey and is released via BMG Rights Management.
