Faith No More will release a new album after 18 years

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Gould revealed the LP – which has yet to be titled – is due to be released in April 2015 and will be marked by a US tour. “We’ve been working on this idea for probably a year and a half,” said Gould. “We live in different cities and all have other things going on, so it’s a matter of checking in and focusing and working little by little.”

Having split in 1998, Faith No More reformed in 2009 and have since toured the world extensively. Their new record will be the band’s first since 1997’s ‘Album of the Year’. Produced by Gould, it will be released on their own imprint, Reclamation Records, and distributed by frontman Mike Patton’s label, Ipecac Recordings.

On the upcoming LP’s sound, Gould said: “What I can say is that I think through our experience as musicians over the years, I think what we’re doing reflects where we’ve gone since we made our last record as Faith No More. I think this kicks things up a notch. And I think there’s parts that are very powerful and there’s parts that have a lot of ‘space’. Everything we do, with our chemistry, the way we play; it’s always going to sound like us. It’s just what we do, that makes us feel good. Hopefully it doesn’t sound like a bunch of 50-year-old men… which we are! [laughs].”

The album’s first single, ‘Motherfucker’, will be released on seven-inch on November 28th and limited to 5,000 copies as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday. The band debuted the song during a show at Hyde Park in July.

Back in May, Faith No More hinted at the possibility of new material, tweeting that it was “time to get a little creative”.

“Hey! Stay tuned for more Tweets from Twats!!! The reunion thing was fun, but now it’s time to get a little creative,” posted the band.
