Thadeus Gonzalez (ex-Electric Sister) drops Utopian Society

Oakland-based vocalist/songwriter Thadeus Gonzalez will release his debut album, UTOPIAN SOCIETY, on September 9, 2014.  The 11-track collection showcases influences from classic rock, metal, punk, and ‘90s alt. “The Nude Land” opens the record with aggressive rock bombast, also demonstrated in the title track.  It moves into alt tracks like “Your Needle Scratches My Vinyl” and the punk influenced “Literally.”  While the lyrics are evocative and unusual, Gonzalez’s unique writing style is most evident in the sexy, moody “Our Connection” and the vulnerably revealing ballad, “White.”

With Electric Sister, Gonzalez enjoyed critical acclaim from not only the release of THE LOST ART OF ROCK & ROLL, but also supporting gigs with KISS/Motley Crue, Slash, Black Label Society, and Danko Jones.  While proud of what the band was able to accomplish independently, Gonzalez felt it was time to both showcase his own songwriting and guitar work (both of which are notable), as well as be open to working with other artists and spending much more time on the road.

Supporting him in the recording were musicians with diverse and credible pedigrees.   Dennis Hill (Face to Face) contributed lead and rhythm guitars and backing vocals, Scott Shiflett (Face to Face, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes) added additional lead guitar, Pete Pacheco (Electric Sister) was on bass and backing vocals, and Nathan Walker (Lit) handled drums.
