SABATON: New Album Debuts on Billboard Top 200
Heroes, the seventh studio release by Swedish heavy metallers & avid war historians SABATON – who devastated stages in the U.S. and Canada this past April & May as direct support for Iced Earth – has debuted at #99 on the American Billboard Top 200 album chart and at #105 on the Canadian Billboard Top 200 album chart. Heroes also holds the #7 position on the American Hard Rock/Metal chart and #11 on the Canadian Hard Rock/Metal chart.
“More great news!” exclaims an enthused Pär Sundström from Sweden, who is the band’s bass player and one of SABATON’s founding members. “We can feel that there is something going on in North America for SABATON and this proves that hard touring pays off. We are proud, happy, and extremely thankful to all of you who supported us over the years. Heroes has reached higher positions in every country than anything we’ve done before.”
Worldwide first week chart positions for Heroes include:
#1 – Sweden
#2 – Finland
#3 – Germany
#4 – Czech Republic
#6 – Poland

ABOUT SABATON:
Formed in Falun, Sweden in 1999, the band is best known for singing almost exclusively about historical wars & battles, a direction SABATON members decided to take on after watching the 1999 Academy Award-winning film Saving Private Ryan. “For us it means a lot more to write about historical events than to make up stories,” says bassist Pär Sundström, one of the main songwriters. The band thoroughly researches their topics to ensure the songs paint accurate & objective portraits of the historical event they’re singing about, which are narrated from an omniscient point-of-view or in first-person as a soldier caught in the line of fire. Like their home country, SABATON aims to remain politically neutral in their role as musical war historians. Heroes marks the band’s first appearance on the American Billboard Top 100.
SABATON is:
Joakim Brodén – Lead Vocals
Thobbe Englund – Lead Guitar
Chris Rörland – Lead Guitar
Pär Sundström – Bass
Hannes Van Dahl – Drums
