CISAC Publishes Global Royalty Collections Report

CISAC, the leading worldwide network of authors’ societies, releases today the annual Global Economic Survey of authors’ society royalty collections. Based on data provided by 227 authors’ societies in 120 countries, this report analyzes the royalties collected by creators in all creative sectors. The new report, which is based on 2012 figures, shows that domestic collections of authors’ societies achieved a new record level of EUR 7.8 billion, an increase of 2% compared to 2011. This increase is in line with global GDP, established at 2.2% by the World Bank.
“The growth in collections in 2012 slightly out-paced GDP growth in 68 of the territories surveyed”, says Olivier Hinnewinkel, Director General of CISAC, “This illustrates the added value to the economies of the cultural and creative industries in those countries and the solidity of the network of authors’ societies”.
