Bachman-Turner Overdrive Headed to Canadian Music Hall of Fame

Veteran Canadian rockers Bachman-Turner Overdrive are headed to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced on Wednesday that the Winnipeg-based band, fronted by Randy Bachman, will be inducted at the 2014 Juno Awards in March. Randy Bachman, who left The Guess Who in 1971, formed Bachman-Turner Overdrive with Robin Bachman and Fred Turner and eventually Tim Bachman.

The band became known for a string of hit songs like “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” and “Takin’ Care of Business” from the 1973 Bachman-Turner Overdrive II album.

Both songs have been featured in movie and TV series soundtracks over the years (Will Ferrell featured “Takin’ Care of Business” in The Campaign, and “Let It Ride” in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues), and in U.S. presidential campaigns, until candidates were served with cease and desist letters.

In recent years, Randy Bachman has hosted Vinyl Tap, a rock history program on the CBC radio network.

The Canadian band have won seven Junos, including group of the year in 1975 and 1976. The Juno Awards will be handed out on March 30 in Hamilton, Ontario, and will air nationwide on the CTV network.
