Warner Music and Sony Music Strike Licensing Agreements in Russia and India…
Warner Music and Sony Music have teamed up to represent each other in two separate licensing deals. Warner Music Russia and Sony Music Entertainment Russia recently signed a three year licensing agreement. Warner will import, manufacture, and distribute Sony’s catalog of physical releases in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan — including releases on the Columbia and Epic imprints. Sony will continue to handle everything else, such as digital and development. Prior to this deal, distribution was handled by Russian company CP Digital, which has significantly less reach.
Meanwhile, Sony Music Entertainment India and Warner Music struck a multi-platform licensing deal. Sony will distribute the Warner catalog in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Warner was previously distributed by EMI/Virgin Music in India.
