Mick Taylor to join Ronnie Wood onstage for Jimmy Reed tribute gig

1 min read

Former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor will join Ronnie Wood onstage for a gig in tribute to the late blues pioneer Jimmy Reed.

Taylor will appear in Ronnie Wood’s band on the closing night of Bluesfest (November 1), the four-day festival taking place at London’s Royal Albert Hall, which runs from October 29 until November 1.

Mick Taylor previously joined his former bandmates on their 50 & Counting tour earlier this year, and during their debut headline set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

According to reports, The Rolling Stones may return to the live scene in 2014 for a world tour. While a band spokesperson told NME that there are “no firm plans yet”, Wood told a newspaper: “While the big wheel is rolling we are going to capture it before it stops totally.”

Last month (September 4), the band announced plans to release a live film of their Hyde Park gigs this summer on DVD and Blu-Ray in November. The film, titled ‘Sweet Summer Sun – Hyde Park Live’, will be released on November 11 and captures the band’s full performance, a full two-hour set plus backstage footage. A live album recorded during the shows has already been released.
