Anathema launches “Universal” clip on YouTube

The UK’s heralded rock group, Anathema, has launched a clip of “Universal,” the title track from its new live Blu-ray, out now on Kscope. Check out the “Universal” clip on YouTube at: http://youtu.be/6oc4HgczbY0.

The concert film, which Yahoo! Music calls “an eye-opener for pop music fans who may think today’s scene begins and ends with whomever might be booked on this year’s VMA awards,” can be purchased on Amazon.com at: http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Blu-ray-Anathema/dp/B00DG86ARK. The live audio can be downloaded via iTunes at: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/universal/id692957225#.

Directed by acclaimed photographer/filmmaker Lasse Hoile (Porcupine Tree, Opeth), the film and album package the magic of a unique evening at the ancient Roman theatre of Philippopolis where the band was joined by the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra to kick off a lengthy world tour in support of its most successful album Weather Systems.

A Universal mini-site is now online at: http://www.kscopemusic.com/anathema/, complete with a new video commentary from frontman Vincent Cavanagh, a teaser trailer, a live clip of the track “Thin Air” from the album’s bonus content, and more.

The concert is also available on the vinyl release Untouchable, shipping from the Kscope store at: https://www.burningshed.com/store/kscope/product/272/4729/.

Anathema is currently in the midst of its first ever North American tour, which kicked off earlier this month in Philadelphia, Pa. The co-headlining run with Alcest and special guest Mamiffer will continue through October 5. A full list of dates can be seen below.

Anathema has only performed twice as a full band in North America, at the infamous Milwaukee Metal Fest in 2000 and 2001, as well as supporting a few dates of Blackfield’s 2011 tour as an acoustic duo.

Billboard.com called the band’s first New York City performance, “powerful… no one walked away disappointed.”

Anathema has been at the forefront of the UK rock/metal movement since its inception. The band began its journey as a pioneer of melodic heavy music, influencing a myriad of bands to follow, before outgrowing all genres and limitations and fearlessly exploring new territory and new ways to express feeling through sound.

Stay tuned for more information on Anathema and Universal.
