Jack White resumes work with the Dead Weather

Jack White has resumed working with the Dead Weather, the psychedelic rock band featuring Kills singer Alison Mosshart and members of Queens of the Stone Age and the Raconteurs. The group have begun recording their third album, a followup to 2010’s Sea of Cowards.
On Thursday, Third Man Records tweeted a photograph of White, Mosshart, bassist Jack Lawrence and guitarist Dean Fertita. “The Dead Weather working on new songs in the studio yesterday (and searching for bodies),” they wrote. This is White’s first group project since wrapping his solo tour last year.
In February, White told Rolling Stone that he was already working on “20 to 25 tracks” for a followup to his solo debut, 2012’s Blunderbuss. “It’s definitely not one sound,” he said. “It’s all over the place. After going out on the road with two bands – that’s a gigantic new family – my influences have just spread out even more.”
Working with the Dead Weather may allow White to distract himself from his court battle with his ex-wife, Karen Elson. Like the former White Stripes leader, all the quartet’s other members live in Nashville. “Our things pick their place for us,” he said earlier this year. “We don’t really sit down and pick them.”
The Dead Weather released back-to-back albums in 2009 and 2010. While 2009’s Horehound reached No 14 on the UK albums chart, Sea of Cowards peaked at No 32.
