Neil Young and Crazy Horse Cancel Four-City North American Tour

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have cancelled their upcoming four-city North American tour due to an injury to guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro’s hand. “[His] doctor has indicated that Sampedro‘s hand requires additional time to heal properly,” says a press release. The band canceled the final seven dates of their summer European tour earlier this month due to the injury.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the festivals where we were scheduled to appear,” the band has said in a statement. “As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events.”

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have been on tour since August 2012. They were booked to play the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York as well as the Greenbelt Harvest Picnic in Dundas, Ontario, the Ottawa Folk Festival in Ottawa, Ontario and the Interlocken Folk Festival in Arrington, Virginia.

Earlier this year, Sampedro told Rolling Stone that he felt this tour might be their final outing. “I just think once it stops, it’s going to be kind of hard to get it rolling again,” he said. “My gut tells me this is really the last tour. I hate saying their ages, but I’m 64 and I’m the baby of the band. I love playing and we’re playing as good as we ever did, but at any time, something could go down with any one of us.”

Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s last show was August 7th in Oslo, Norway. They ended, appropriately enough, with “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black.)”
