Warner Music Group Promotes Stu Bergen To President, International, Warner Recorded Music
Warner Music Group (WMG) today announced the promotion of Stu Bergen to the position of President, International, Warner Recorded Music. Bergen will add responsibility for WMG’s recorded music business across Asia Pacific and Latin America to the territories he currently oversees, Canada and Continental Europe. He will continue to lead the company’s strategy across emerging markets, including Africa, Russia and India. He reports to Stephen Cooper, WMG’s CEO.
Cooper commented, “This is an exciting moment for our business. The global music landscape continues to evolve at a dramatic pace and, at the same time, our own company is approaching a defining moment as we prepare to welcome Parlophone Label Group into the Warner Music family. Today’s changes reflect our readiness to embrace this unprecedented opportunity for growth.”
“I am delighted Stu is taking this leadership role. He combines deep understanding of our markets around the world with a clear vision for how that translates into a cohesive international strategy, all underpinned by his many years of experience collaborating with our local affiliates to drive stellar results for our acts.”
Stu Bergen said, “I am looking forward to working more closely with our talented teams in Asia Pacific and Latin America as we continue to explore new opportunities for our artists and for our business in these dynamic and diverse regions.”
At the same time, Mike Jbara is promoted to the newly-created role of President, Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) Worldwide, reporting to Bergen. Jbara will be responsible for leading the growth of ADA’s services to independent labels and artists, expanding the company’s global footprint and nurturing ADA’s unique identity.
Cooper added, “This is a well-deserved promotion for Mike, who has successfully led WEA through a key period of transformation. Dedicating an executive of Mike’s caliber and experience to the task of globalizing ADA underscores our ambition for building out ever-stronger support for our partners in the indie community.”
Furthermore, Matt Signore is promoted to President, Artist & Label Services, reporting to Brian Roberts, CFO, Warner Music Group. WEA Corp.’s department heads will now join Signore’s existing direct reports, completing the unification of WEA with WMG’s other US Artist & Label Services units under one operational leader.
Matt Flott is being promoted to CFO, Recorded Music, also reporting to Roberts. Flott spent two years as CFO for WMG’s international recorded music operations and is playing a key role in the WMG / PLG integration planning.
Brian Roberts said “Matt Signore is well-positioned to help us expand our reputation for world-class service to artists and labels, as well as industry-leading relationships with retailers and digital platforms. Matt Flott’s commercial acumen and strategic insight make him the perfect choice to oversee the financial health and agility of our recorded music company on a worldwide basis.”
