STATUS QUO Announces New Drummer
British rock veterans STATUS QUO have announced the addition of drummer Leo Cave to the group’s ranks.
Says the band: “We’re pleased to announce the new addition to QUO’s engine room is Leon Cave. A hugely talented multi-instrumentalist, Leon has worked with Francis [Rossi] previously, has been in rehearsal with the band and will be playing his debut show on Saturday, May 25th at the Wolkenkratzer Festival in Frankfurt, Germany.”
34-year-old Leon also plays guitar and bass. Apart from the Francis Rossi band, he has toured extensively worldwide and recorded with a wide range of artists and producers.
STATUS QUO will release a soundtrack to its first-ever feature film called “Bula Quo!”, a 90-minute action movie featuring the bandmembers as themselves and also starring Craig Fairbrass (“Cliff Hanger”, “Rise Of The Footsoldier”, “Eastenders”) and Laura Aikman (“Keith Lemon The Movie”, “Freight”, “Surviving Picasso”) with Jon Lovitz (“Saturday Night Live”, “Friends”, “The Wedding Singer”). The film was directed by Stuart St. Paul, who has worked on projects ranging from DURAN DURAN’s seminal “Wild Boys” video, to “Aliens”, “Batman” and three Bond movies.
“Bula Quo!” — the new two-CD album — is due out on June 10 and features reworked or live versions of ten classic STATUS QUO hits, including a Fijian-style rendition of “Living On An Island”.
