The label founded by Dave Matthews and manager Coran Capshaw has a roster that includes My Morning Jacket and Alabama Shakes. The first release under the new agreement will be by Gypsy punks Gogol Bordello.
The revitalized Caroline distribution and label services operation has signed ATO Records to a U.S. distribution agreement.
ATO (According To Our Records), founded by Dave Matthews and manager Coran Capshaw, has a roster that includes My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Allen Stone, Drive-By Truckers, Primus, and Old Crow Medicine Show.
The first release under the new agreement will be the forthcoming album from Gogol Bordello on July 23, with several other releases expected to be issue by year-end, including an album albums from rock’n’roll band J. Roddy Walston.
New York-based Caroline is a division of Capitol Music Group, which is part of Universal’s reorganization of EMI’s recorded-music operation, purchased by UMG last year.
In a statement, Caroline president Dominic Pandiscia said, “ATO has positioned itself as one of the premier independent record companies in the music business, and we couldn’t be more pleased that they’ve chosen Caroline as their distribution partner. Their community of artists is a testament to the label’s focus on integrity and an emphasis on great music. All of us at Caroline are looking forward to helping ATO and its artists achieve their dreams.”
