Soundgarden Sign Publishing Agreement With BMG Chrysalis US
Soundgarden, the multi-platinum selling, revolutionary rock group fronted by songwriter, singer and guitarist Chris Cornell, have signed a worldwide administration agreement with BMG Chrysalis US. The deal includes acclaimed rock anthems such as ‘Spoonman,’ ‘Black Hole Sun’ and ‘Blow Up the Outside World.’
Soundgarden achieved monumental success with the 1994 album Superunknown, which debuted at Number One on the Billboard charts and yielded the Grammy Award-winning singles written by Cornell such as ‘Black Hole Sun’ and ‘Spoonman.’ Following a 12 year hiatus since the band dominated the rock mainstream, Soundgarden reassembled in 2010 to record and tour, playing select sold-out dates before headlining the Lollapalooza Festival. Their highly anticipated Fall 2012 release, King Animal, the first album from the band in 16 years, continues to be one of the most critically acclaimed records of the band’s career. The band is kicking off their second leg of their North American tour in May 2013.
Jill Pedone, Creative Director at BMG Chrysalis US, commented: “Soundgarden have earned their place in music history as innovators of the rock genre. We are thrilled to be working with the band during their pivotal reemergence and their catalog that has changed the face of rock music.”
Richard Blackstone, Executive Vice President, Creative & Business Development at BMG Chrysalis US added: “We are so very proud to be representing the entire body of work from this seminal band. We are honored that they have chosen BMG to be the new home for their music, both old and new.”
