Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group Corp., today announced the appointment of Jake Ottmann to Senior Vice President, A&R. Based in New York, he will sign and develop new and established songwriting talent, as well as provide senior level support to Warner/Chappell’s East Coast creative team. Effective immediately, Ottmann will report to Jon Platt, President, Creative – North America, Warner/Chappell Music.

Jon Platt said, “Jake is an exceptional music executive, who combines an unwavering commitment to songwriters, with wide-ranging creative expertise and a deep understanding of the business. I trust Jake to deliver and, more importantly, so do artists. I know he will be a superb addition to our fantastic A&R team, as we continue to make Warner/Chappell the first-choice destination for the world’s biggest stars and best new talent.”

Cameron Strang, Chairman & CEO, Warner/Chappell Music said, “Jake’s tireless focus on providing outstanding service to songwriters makes him a perfect fit with Warner/Chappell. His arrival is further proof we have the best A&R team in the business.”

Jake Ottmann said, “I am genre agnostic when it comes to amazing songs. I want to sign and serve extraordinary writers, regardless of the type of music they create. I am so delighted to be joining Warner/Chappell because I know this approach is at the heart of its A&R activities. That philosophy has helped build the company’s incredible heritage, and propelled its recent momentum and success. I am looking forward to learning from Cameron, reuniting with my mentor Jon, and collaborating with the amazing team here. Together, we’ll be signing and developing the next generation of ground-breaking hit-makers at the world’s best music publisher.”

Ottmann previously served as East Coast Creative Vice President at EMI Publishing. While at EMI, he was responsible for signing successful acts such as The Fray, Metro Station, Boys Like Girls, Chiddy Bang, Neon Hitch, 3OH!3, Coheed and Cambria as well as writer/producer John Hill, who has worked with Santigold, Rihanna, Natasha Beddingfield and Christina Aguilera. Prior to EMI Music Publishing, Jake was an A&R Consultant at BMG International and also served as the General Manager of the US office at Dedicated Records where he signed Beth Orton and Deep Dish. Simultaneously, he was co-founding partner of DGM Artist Management with a roster that included Superdrag, Lifter, and many others. He started as an assistant at Elektra Records, where he worked his way up to Senior Director of Alternative Radio Promotion, eventually overseeing the radio efforts for the entire alternative music roster. Ottmann also co-founded Fingerpaint Records, an indie label started out of his bedroom that became a fertile ground for developing artists, most notably Beck.
