Per Sundin Appointed Senior Vice President – Nordic Region, Universal Music Group International
Per Sundin has been appointed Senior Vice President – Nordic Region for Universal Music Group International it was announced today by Frank Briegmann, President of Central Europe to whom Sundin reports.
In this new role, which is effective immediately, Sundin will continue to serve as Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Sweden, while taking on additional responsibility for Universal’s operations in Denmark, Finland and Norway. Casper Bengtson, Managing Director of Universal Music Denmark, Jarkko Nordlund, Managing Director of Universal Music Finland, and Petter Singsaas, Managing Director of Universal Music Norway, now report directly to Sundin.
Since Sundin joined Universal Music as Chairman and CEO in Sweden in 2008, the company has become the number one label in Sweden with a strong domestic roster including Avicii, Håkan Hellström and Veronica Maggio and successful releases from international artists such as Imagine Dragons, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. Sweden’s success as an incubator of new digital start-ups such as Spotify has helped return the music market to growth there with Sundin leading Universal Music’s support for this exciting new area of the music business in Sweden.

Sundin began his career in the music business in 1989 as Marketing Manager at CBS Records (now Sony Music) in Sweden, rising to Marketing Director in 1991. After a few years working in radio and TV, as well as artist management, Sundin returned to Sony Music Sweden in 1998 as Managing Director. In 2001 he was promoted to Managing Director of Sony Music Nordic and, after the merger of Sony and BMG, in 2005 he was appointed to head the combined company in Sweden which became the market leader while under his leadership. He left Sony BMG to head Universal Music Sweden in 2008.
