DoubleCross Signs HIM

DoubleCross, Cooking Vinyl’s specialist rock imprint, have announced their latest big league signing, with Finnish rock giants HIM agreeing a UK and Ireland deal – with options – for their forthcoming album.

Recorded in their home country with long-time producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, the new album – titled Tears On Tape – is scheduled for release on April 29th.

Formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindstrφm, and bassist Mikko “Migι” Paananen, HIM’s previous seven albums have seen them win a worldwide following, becoming the first Finnish act to achieve gold sales status in the US.

A formidable live act, the band is currently limbering up for dates in 2013, including a highly anticipated appearance at Download.

Speaking about the signing, DoubleCross general manager, Phil Hopwood, said: “It’s so exciting to be working with such a great band. HIM are a well respected cornerstone of the genre and the new album delivers on every level. We will make a lot of new fans with this record.”

Fresh from mastering the album in New York, Ville Valo added: “Cooking Vinyl’s history speaks for itself and for some unfathomable reason they have clearly understood HIM’s rather perverse musical fetishes – which are as rare as hen’s teeth! DoubleCross – of the inverted kind – here we come!”

DoubleCross was launched in August 2012 with a mission to sign the world’s hottest rock and metal acts.

Adding Skindred to its roster last month, the label recently celebrated the release of King Of Conflict, the debut album from The Virginmarys.

HIM Joins Razor & Tie’s Label Roster

Razor & Tie announces the addition of the Finnish rock band HIM (His Infernal Majesty) to its North American label roster. The band has completed work on their forthcoming new studio album, Tears On Tape, which will be released on April 30th on Razor & Tie in North America/Canada and on April 29th on DoubleCross (Cooking Vinyl’s specialist rock imprint) in the U.K. and Ireland.

HIM lead vocalist Ville Valo comments, “We’re infernally glad to be dressed sharply enough for our dearest comrades in the U.S.(for once), R&T A-Go-Go!!!”

Tears On Tape will be the “Love Metal” band’s eighth official album and was recorded in their home country with long-time producer Hiili Hiilesmaa and once again mixed by long time-band associate, Tim Palmer (U2, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Robert Plant).

HIM’s current lineup is Ville Valo (Vocals), Mikko “Linde” Lindstrφm (Guitars), Mikko “Migι” Paananen (Bass), Janne “Burton” Puurtinen (Keyboards), and Mika”Gas” Karppinen (Drums). The band is managed by Seppo Vesterinen at Hinterland, Inc and represented for U.S. touring by Justin Hirschman/AGI.

A formidable live act, the band will be announcing a U.S. tour next week and is already confirmed to perform at this year’s U.K. Download Festival in mid-June.

HIM is the latest addition to independent label Razor & Tie’s expanding Rock roster that currently includes such artists as All That Remains, The Sword, Hatebreed, For Today, P.O.D., Such Gold, Nonpoint, Chelsea Grin, Shadows Fall, Norma Jean, Attila, and many more. The New York City-based label is one of the fastest growing independent record companies in the United States, and has garnered both Platinum sales and Grammy awards in its 20-year history.
