Nick Mason Appearing At Foote’s Music London

2 min read

Heroic savior of Foote’s Music store, Nick Mason, will be appearing there on Saturday 16th March 2013 in support of National Learn To Play Day. Commenting on National Learn to Play Day the renowned Pink Floyd drummer said ‘Learning an instrument isn’t about becoming a star, anymore than learning to swim means you want to become a haddock! It makes friends, teaches you the real advantage of working with other people to achieve a common goal and provides an enormous sense of pleasure when almost any music is produced, I have been doing it for over forty years – and still love it!’

Nick stepped in and teamed up with Foote’s sales director, Rob Wilson, to save the London drum store where he purchased his first drum kit for £7.50 in 1958! Charles Ernest Foote founded the landmark store in 1920 on the basis it was run by musicians for musicians. The same is true today at their new premises in Store Street, off Tottenham Court Road, London.

National Learn To Play Day offers everyone all over the UK the opportunity of a free taster music lesson across a range of instruments, a host of rock stars, musicians and celebrities have lent their support to the campaign and will be appearing at music stores throughout the country to lend a hand on the day.

National Learn To Play Day is organised by the charity Music For All in partnership with the Musicians Union, Arts Council England’s Take it away scheme, Music Teachers.co.uk and Musicradar.com.
