Ted Nugent, Fierce Obama Critic, Attending the State of the Union as Congressman’s Guest

The fire-breathing rocker has been invited to the Capitol for the first State of the Union of President Barack Obama’s second term as the guest of Rep. Steve Stockman (TX-36), thus disproving his prediction that, if Obama won re-election he’d “either be dead or in jail.”

In a statement, Stockman said “I am excited to have a patriot like Ted Nugent joining me in the House Chamber to hear from President Obama. After the address I’m sure Ted will have plenty to say.”

Nugent is an outspoken critic of the president, who has in just the past year called Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton criminals who needed to be beheaded, vocally wondered if the country would have been better off if the Confederacy had won the Civil War, called Obama’s supporters “pimps, whores and welfare brats.” His “beheading” comments earned him a visit from the Secret Service.

On Monday afternoon, Nugent tweeted, “well well well, there will be a freedom addicted all American uppity Motown guitarplayer facing the POTUS at the SOTU addresss tomoro-lovely.”

Nugent is a fierce gun rights advocate. He made his “beheading” comments at an NRA convention — and has battled with hosts such as Piers Morgan about gun control. Obama is expected to make another call for gun control measures in his speech, which will also be attended by surviving students of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that helped put the issue in the spotlight.
