Bella Union And BMG Chrysalis Us Join Forces For Publishing Joint Venture
BMG Chrysalis US has announced a publishing joint venture with Bella Union Songs, the publishing division of Bella Union Records.
Under the arrangement, BMG will provide worldwide rights management services to artists signed to the JV. Both companies will jointly provide creative support to further develop songwriting talent and expand opportunities internationally.
Bella Union Records is headed by Simon Raymonde who founded the UK-based indie label in 1997 with a strong intuition for discovering and nurturing talent. Raymonde and Bella Union have helped build the careers of cutting-edge artists such as Fleet Foxes, Beach House, Father John Misty, The Walkmen, Explosions in The Sky and Flaming Lips.
In 2010 and 2012 the label was recognized as the Independent Record Company of the Year at the MusicWeek Awards.
Said Simon Raymonde, Co-founder of Bella Union Records: “Over the last few years, I have seen at close hand how BMG has worked so wonderfully with some of our artists such as Beach House and Fleet Foxes. I can’t wait to get started on the opportunity to work with such a committed and passionate team and together develop artists, songwriters and producers.”
Said Kate Hyman, SVP of Creative at BMG Chrysalis US: “We are thrilled and excited to be working on publishing deals with Simon, one of the industry’s A&R greats. This is the perfect next step for Bella Union and BMG.”
