ABOUT THE APP

It’s been an amazing couple of years for Gary Numan, returning to form as a recording artist and back in the public gaze as one of the revered greats of Pop. Artrocker Editor-in-Chief Tom Fawcett has conducted a series of EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS with Gary spanning April to September 2012, discussing the past, present and future of the King of Synth. No stone is left unturned. Tom also spoke to co-producer Ade Fenton, members of Gary’s present band as well as former alumni and Gary’s merch man of many years. The App includes the story behind the recording of and subsequent decision to release ‘Are Friends Electric’ as a single.

For this App, Artrocker commissioned music & fashion photographer Keith Martin to take a series of new photos of Gary, his crew and fans. The result is a stunning series of nearly 200 brand new, never-seen-before exclusive photos. Embedded in the App are exclusive interview videos on subjects as diverse as Cars and moving to the USA.

Readers will be given access to an EXCLUSIVE DOWNLOAD REMIX ALBUM. Entitled ‘Dead Moon Falling’, the album is a full reworking of Gary Numan’s critically acclaimed ‘Dead Son Rising’ album, featuring remixes by some of the world’s most cutting-edge artists, including – TIM BURGESS, SONOIO, GAZELLE TWIN, THE DUKE SPIRIT, THE OFFICERS, ATARI TEENAGE RIOT’S ALEX EMPIRE and IS TROPICAL. Compiled and curated by Artrocker Editor Marc Sallis, Steve Malins and Ade Fenton, the album was given the full nod of approval by Numan himself.

‘GARY NUMAN: NOW…and then’ utilises all the bells and whistles that publishing on a tablet allows. It’s a truly immersive experience that turns a book into an interactive plaything.

“Publishing to tablet is a dream come true for publishers of music related content. At last we can read, listen, and watch,” says Artrocker Editor-in-Chief Tom Fawcett. “This platform could have been invented for music books, and we’ve done all we can to exploit it. As with the tablet version of Artrocker Magazine the photos glow, but it’s the bells and whistles – exclusive videos, over 200 photos and download album – that make this a whole new experience.”

GARY NUMAN NOW

Gary talks about his recent return to prominence, moving to America, writing, recording, producing and performing, future plans, the next album…even the make of car he’ll be driving around LA.

…and then

Gary discusses how it all began, the first fateful meeting with a synthesiser, riding the instant rocket to fame, the come down, the lost years and the fight back. We have nearly 100 flyers, tour programmes, back stage passes, photos from the period and vintage magazine covers.. And of course, the classic Numan videos.

This is an app that will appeal to Numanoids, synth-poppers and music fans of all ages. When you unwrap that brand new tablet on Christmas Day baptise it with Artrocker and the undisputed King of Synth. All Hail King Gary. All Hail Artrocker.
