Founding member of Genesis releases a new album
Private Parts and Pieces 11- City of Dreams, the new album by Anthony Phillips, gives us a somewhat different aspect of the creativity of the famous british guitarist, former musical mind and founding member of Genesis. Anthony this time set aside the orchestrations and the sophisticated arrangements of Seventh Heaven, his most recent work and has composed, performed and produced by himself in his own home studio in London a minimal, rigorous cd, all focused on electronic music. City of Dreams is a fascinating journey into the mysterious world of dreams, sometimes dominated by the most peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, as in Coral Island and Sea of Tranquillity, and others from the most threatening and scary as in Piledriver and Mistery Train II e III. A cd where the synth notes and special effects punctuate every moment making us dive into a dream space where fantasy and imagination takes the upper hand. Thirty-one tracks opened by City of Dreams, the recurring theme of the album also present in the final piece Homecoming. The virtuoso Anthony’s guitar stands out particularly in King of the Mountains, with its gentle psychedelic accents, or in Days of Yore alongside with the valuable contribution of the piano in Air & Grace and Act of Faith. A record that goes straight to the mind and heart and that, like any other Anthony Phillips one, is a high quality production, far from certain strict logic of marketing, but always refined and innovative.
