Dweller-X releases solo EP
The veteran frontman/keyboardist/ songwriter of Albino Sungod has released his first solo album,”An Obvious Taste of the Rain” under the new moniker, calling the sound more “futurish” than the more traditional prog/classic rock sound of his former band. Their album, “Season for the Sane” remains near and dear to his heart. Although Albino Sungod disbanded before releasing the album, a handful of videos can still be found with a basic youtube search.
“It’s not a radical departure- a little more electronica influence and a bit more modern production values”, he says. “I’ve still got a lot of Beatles and Genesis influence in me but, being a one-man-band on 5 of the 6 songs, I didn’t have to arm wrestle with other musicians whenever I wanted to use synth bass or a boatload of synths”. The EP was recorded entirely (with some mixing done a Rick Mark’s RMSAV) at his studio, “Malarkeyville” in central Kentucky, USA. “I owned a 24-track studio back when 2-inch tape was state-of -the-art and I’m simply blown away by the modern digital technology”, he says. “Nearly every piece of high end gear I ever drooled over now resides inside my computer- in digital form”, he elaborates. Dweller-X describes this EP as “the first step on a new, uncharted path”. Here’s hoping it’s a long and prosperous one.
