Steve Cooke Nominated For “Best New Album” At The Malibu Music Awards

Americana Rock artist Steve Cooke doesn’t shy away from the controversial and if the current upward ground swell from his latest blue collar single “Working for the USA” is anything to go by, its fitting that his preceding album (with the same name) has just received a prestigious nomination for ‘Best New Album’ at this years Malibu Music Awards.
The annual Malibu Music Awards honors the success and achievements of unique musical artists, who have made significant contributions to the music industry in the past year. Industry legend Glen Campbell will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, “Some people have said that I can ‘hear’ a hit song, meaning that I can tell the first time a song is played for me if it has potential. I have been able to hear some of the hits that way, but I can also ‘feel’ one,” ~ Glen Campbell.

This year’s ceremony will be held at the renowned Malibu Inn. Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Young, once owned the restaurant and bar and his musical influence transformed the Malibu Inn into a place for live entertainment that featured some of music’s most recognized performers including Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and Kid Rock.

Steve Cooke and his all-star band are also in good company this year, performing on the bill with American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze, Dominic & Scott Kay of the Commodores and other outstanding talent.

Cooke will play his signature 12 string guitar and sing his powerful workingman’s anthem “Working for the USA” live on the night during the ceremony and later feature a short set of songs from his album, after the honored recipients have received their awards. “It’s an honor to play at this fantastic event, the band and I cant wait to rock Malibu” says Cooke. The Malibu Music Awards & Festival benefits the Malibu Symphony Association 501c3 and children’s music programs and community music efforts. An evening not to be missed and with tickets selling fast its advisable to get in early!
