Vitruvian Man – The Stranger Within ‘Progressive Rock’

Vitruvian Man are a modern progressive rock band hailing from Melbourne, Australia. After a lengthy songwriting period, the full lineup took formation in early 2009. Taking their sound to the stage and spending the best part of two years refining tunes, and making an impact on live audiences.

Made up of a seasoned collection of players, guitarist Glenn Kirkwood, bassist Johnny Glovasa, vocalist Dan Swan and drummer Greg Stone. Together they each contribute their individual craft, comprised of technical ability, live experience and mutual creativity.

Citing influences from progressive rock, metal, and jazz-fusion, the act harbor a sound that is anything but conventional. Critically described as a crossbreed of The Mars Volta and Iron Maiden with a combined blend of compelling riffs, powerful harmonies and striking melodies, Vitruvian Man are a band that continue to push musical boundaries. Other influences include Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson & Porcupine Tree.

The Stranger Within: The groups debut album, released 1st March, 2012, is a concept record completely self produced by the band. Applying a hands on approach to the engineering and mixing, making use of various contacts and resources at their disposal, the goal was to make a record that was as close to the live performance as possible.
